#2458 thankful for cake, even though it's ugly

Impulsively, I bought a spice cake mix while I was at the grocery store. I imagined a tender, fluffy spice cake, baked in a bundt pan and drizzled with cream cheese frosting. I thought of the looks of delight on MT and T's faces when they saw the beautiful cake and the appreciative smacking of their lips after they tasted the gentle spices and tangy yet sweet frosting.

Everything went according to plan until I forgot the cardinal rule of bundt cakes: don't remove the cake from the pan until it is cooled. I did grease the pan very well, but the cake was still warm when I inverted it onto the plate. The cake broke. I sort of tried to put the piece in place, but it didn't look good. "That's ok", I thought. "I will drizzle the glaze over it. It will be fine."

The frosting turned out well, but I wasn't a patient drizzler. The frosting kind of came out in clumps which I couldn't really spread because the cake was warm.

The bad news is the cake is not beautiful. The good news is that it tastes good and at the end of the day, it's cake, and it hit the spot. MT thought so too.
