#2434 Friday free-for-all

I have been kind of miserable today from allergies. My nose has been running like it stole something, I can't stop sneezing, and my eyes are all itchy and dry. I took some allergy meds but they didn't help at all. My poor nose is red and sore from all the blowing and wiping. I didn't even take Mac for a walk today, but she has been playing in the backyard all day and seems content. MT did take her out for a walk this evening, and I was grateful to him for doing that. I'm probably going to go to bed early because I have a bit of headache and feel kind of run down.

Tonight I tried a new recipe. Awhile ago I bought some sirloin steaks and I've been trying different ways to use them. I made finger steaks one night. I made beef stroganoff another time and tonight I made Beijing Beef  from a recipe I found on Pinterest. The recipe calls for flank steak, but I tenderized the sirloin and sliced it into thin strips. It was good! The menfolk liked it a lot. The sauce was delicious and steak was tender. What I didn't like about it was frying the pieces of meat. With the egg white marinade, the meat popped in the oil. My stove was a mess. Sure tasted good though.

Have you ever gotten a bump on your tongue? I know you have. I got one yesterday and messed around with it all night even though it hurt like the dickens. It's better today, but it's still there. Where do those things come from anyway?

You won't be surprised to hear that I don't have any plans for the weekend. Mom has recommended some movies to watch from Prime. MT wants to stream Mulan (I do too). T wants to see Tenet, but I don't think I am ready to go to a theater. I may drop him off though, so he can see it. He really enjoys Christopher Nolan movies. The NFL has started so I'll probably watch a bit of football on Sunday afternoon.

Since that windstorm and cold front earlier in the week, the weather has been lovely the past couple of days. The temperatures are going to warm back up this weekend, but maybe the hot weather is over. I love temps in the mid-80s during the day and in the 60s or cooler at night. I have the window open in my bedroom and it feels so good to sleep in the coolness.

One last thing: today is the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the U.S. Every year on this day, I think back to that morning. I was watching the local news. They reported that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center, thinking that it was just a small plane that had gone horribly off course. Then we all watched as the second plane hit and we knew it wasn't an accident. I remember sitting there on my bed, looking at my little boy and wondering if we were going to be all right. 19 years later I am still wondering the same thing, although for different reasons, and maybe some of the same reasons too.

Be kind to people. You never know what they are going through. Wash your hands. Wear your mask. Take care of yourself.
