Gorilla Glue is no joke, y'all.
This isn't something I learned today, but it was certainly verified. The label says it is extremely adhesive and will bond to anything very, very quickly. The label should also say that if you don't have a lot of skill with handing extreme adhesives, stick with Elmer's glue.
To put your mind at ease, I am unharmed. Yes, I do have a bit of Gorilla Glue in a couple of locations on my hands, but I know from experience that it will eventually wear away. I was able to clean up the glue that I got on my table cover, so I don't think there will be lasting damage there. Honestly, I hope the glue holds on to what I actually wanted it to hold. I have my doubts, but it's working for now.
I have often been accused of not liking Halloween. This is untrue and an unfair accusation. No, I don't usually dress up, but that is more about my lack of imagination and my poor planning. Yes, I know that Halloween is always at the end of October, but I don't really give it a lot of thought until about the week before. I also don't decorate for Halloween, for the same reasons as listed above. I like the decorations, but I don't give it much thought until it's time, and then, believe me, you can't find much with which to decorate.
As I've been walking Mac through our neighborhood, I've noticed the really cute Halloween decorations people have been putting up this year. There's a house down at the end of the street with the prettiest wrap-around porch and they have put up orange lights on the porch railings and hung little ghosties in the trees. They have carved pumpkins (maybe ceramic, but still) that glow merrily at night. The folks that live in that house don't have any littles living there; I can definitely tell the houses that have kids compared to the grandma and grandpa houses.
I looked on Pinterest for some DIY ideas to decorate my porch. I found a couple of cute ideas that I thought I could make. I'm not crafty (see glue explanation above), but I like to try. One of the ideas will have to wait until next year because I couldn't find any cloth witches' hats. I'll make a note to myself in my planner to get some witches' hats the minute I see Halloween decorations and costumes come out, probably in August.
The other decoration I found really didn't need Halloween specific stuff, so I decided to give it a go. I won't wait until the end of the post for the reveal. Here they are:
I made a trio of ghosts! Do you like them? I think they are kind of cute. Want to know how they are made? Okay, I'll tell you.
You take a tomato cage and turn it upside down. Use a rubber band to pull the cage legs together. String some white lights around the cage. Cram a six inch styrofoam ball on the leg parts. Throw a sheet (or a shower curtain) over it. Cut some eyes and maybe even a mouth out of some black felt. Glue the felt onto the sheet. Voila! Ghosties for your porch or a corner of your house. So simple even I can do it!
Here they are when it's a little darker outside.
I'm not sure if the one with the mouth looks scary or like he's laughing.
Anyway, there's my craftiness showing for Halloween. I also have a couple of pumpkins on the steps. I kinda want to get another one and carve it. I haven't carved a pumpkin in awhile. I like how they look when they are glowing. I don't know that I'll have any candy to give to kids this year because of Covid. I haven't decided yet.
There is snow in the forecast for tomorrow morning. I am NOT ready for that, to be sure. I guess I will be getting out my sweaters and putting away the warm weather clothes tomorrow.
I hope y'all had a nice week and are enjoying the weekend. Take care of yourselves!
LOL they look great! Good job :)
