#2444 a different spin on Halloween

This has certainly been an unusual Halloween night. Usually we have kids knocking on our door for a couple of hours. Some years we have many trick or treaters, some years fewer. This year we have definitely had the fewest ever.

I decided that we would not answer our door. I put the ghosties that I made (see the last post) up as a barrier to our front door. I did put out a box with candies in it along with a sign that said TAKE 2. Then I took Mac for a walk around the neighborhood to see what other people were doing. There were four or five other houses that had their front door blocked off in some sort of festive way. Most of those houses also had bowls of candy available for the taking. I saw a couple of houses with what appeared to be candy shutes. I didn't see them in action, so I don't know for sure if that's what they were. I don't know what else they could have been.

The majority of the houses were simply dark. No porch lights were on. In some cases driveways were empty too. A couple of houses looked like they were hosting a gathering of people.

At our house, we heard two groups at our candy box. I just brought the candy back into the house, and the box was still half full. I didn't buy much candy this year, but we have PLENTY leftover.  I'm glad I didn't buy stuff I especially like so I won't be too tempted. Oh, I'll still eat some, don't get me wrong.

Earlier this week my sister was showing me some Halloween themed shirts she had purchased. One said "Sanderson Sisters". I didn't know who the sisters were, and Lizzie actually face-palmed in real life. She has long been disappointed in the fact that I have not seen the movie Hocus Pocus. I think we talk about it every year LOL. So today I decided it was time to watch it.  I don't know that it will go into my Halloween movie rotation (if I had one), but at least now I know who the Sanderson sisters are.

I'm about ready to watch another movie, Rebecca, on Netflix. It has some scary elements, if I remember the book at all. It's kind of unusual of me to watch two movies in a day, especially when I have my books nearby, but I'm gonna do it!

One more thing...tomorrow is November, so I am planning on writing every day and I already have a theme selected: thankful. Every day I'll write something I am thankful for. Surely I can think of 30 things to be thankful for! I hope that you will join me, and maybe even be inspired to share what you are thankful for as well.

Covid marches on. Wear your mask! Wash your hands! Stay home if you feel yucky! Stay home when you can period.
