#870 a good vacation day with Josh Duhamel

Today was a nearly perfect vacation day. I woke up a little earlier than I would have liked because my mom's dog barked very shrilly around 7:30. I took her outside, then decided to just be awake. I read for a little while, took a shower and got a nice chocolate croissant for breakfast.

I decided that I would go see a movie. I've been reading the book Safe Haven, and I am enjoying it, so I thought I would see the movie. Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough are in the film, and both of them are nice to look at. In the book, they fall in love and it's wonderfully cheesy and I thought that would be a perfect vacation movie. It wasn't. In the movie, they do not fall in love in a wonderfully cheesy way. The story is a little different from the book and I just didn't like it very much. In the end, I was just unhappy. The whole way home I kept shaking my head and saying "Bleh" and trying to make it go away. Not even two hours of Josh Duhamel made it ok. Then I realized that in real life, Josh might be kind of a knucklehead anyway because he is married to Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas and I don't really like her very much.

Knucklehead or not, he's pretty adorable.
After the movie, my parents and I went to lunch at Black Angus. There is something so decadent about having a steak at lunch time! I had a nice Caesar salad and a grilled sirloin steak with fries. My mom had a cobb salad that had a bunch of bleu cheese crumbles. I pilfered some of her bleu cheese to put on my steak. Yummmmm! The three of us shared a nice warm apple tart with vanilla ice cream for dessert. I am a sucker for warm apples. Throw a little pastry around the apples and drizzle with caramel and I'm a happy girl.

When we got home, I watched Ellen and guess who was her guest? Josh Duhamel! Even though I didn't care for the movie he was promoting, I was still enthralled with him. :)

Ellen gave Josh this heart shaped thong which he put on.  Silly.
Then it was nap-time. I laid down on the couch and snoozed for a couple of hours. It was really too long, but it felt pretty good. Mom and I had Mexican food for dinner, and Lizzie got here while we were eating. Since then we've just been sitting around chatting and giggling and playing with our electronic devices.

I can't finish this post without talking for a minute about the beautiful weather today. It was gorgeous here! The temperature was in the high 70s. The sun was shining. The sky was blue. There are flowers blooming; the grass is green. Ahhh! Just what the doctor ordered for this winter-weary girl.

Tomorrow I think we are going to head over to Long Beach in the afternoon for some lunch and to hear the ocean and enjoy the day. Doesn't that sound great?!
