That being said, I'll write about the weekend.
I was pretty mellow this weekend. On Friday after work I came home, laid on my bed in front of the fan and dozed off. Any plan I had for cooking or going to the gym or doing laundry or anything like that did not happen. It was so low key that I don't even remember what I did, although I'm pretty sure reading and playing with my phone was involved.
Saturday was the normal routine. Up early for WW (down a pound WOOT WOOT!). I skipped going to the gym for the simple reason that I did not have any clean gym clothes. It's true. No clean socks, no clean shirts, no clean pants. Embarrassing. I liked having a quiet morning to myself, though. (I could have written then, but as you can see, there was nothing interesting to write about.)
When I drove to WW on Saturday morning, it felt like I lived on a great flat plain. The mountains that surround the valley were obscured by smoke. I could see the outlines of the Oquirrhs to the west from my house, but the Wasatch was not visible. Later in the day, as I drove east toward the Wasatch, they came into view, but the Oquirrhs disappeared. The sky was kind of brown and breathing was tough. The good thing was that it didn't seem quite as hot as it has been. Temperatures were in the mid-90s instead of upper 90s. It's not much, but it's something.
I spent a couple of hours at Red Butte Garden in the Courtyard. We had a steady stream of guests, as usual. Both the trams were busy. I talked to a nice little old man (he was 86) from Pennsylvania for a few minutes. Other than that I didn't chat with many guests, other than to greet them. After my shift I took a stroll up to the Water Conservation Garden. There's almost always a nice breeze up there and the view of the valley is good. Here's what it looked like yesterday:
I'm looking west toward the Great Salt Lake. The high-rise buildings of downtown are off to the right. To the left, you would usually see the Oquirrh Mountains.
Here's a view of the Wasatch Mountains from the top of the Water Conservation Garden:

Pretty crazy, huh?
Last night I was the gate-keeper for a wedding reception up at the Garden. I was hanging out with my new friend Kathy. She was the tram driver. We chatted for awhile, then we decided to read, which was totally cool with me! I finished the book I was reading. She was struggling through Jack Kerouac's On the Road. In the southern sky there was blankets of lightning. The sky was so smoky that the lightning looked orange. The storm was far away, though. We did get some thunder and a couple of little raindrops, but nothing to speak of, sadly. I miss rain. We used to get summer rain storms in July. Maybe we'll get some in August. A summer rainstorm is pretty great. I like the way it smells and it usually cools things down a little bit.
This morning MT and I went to get a pancake, of course. We had the sweetest server called Irene. She was so friendly and cute. MT ordered mushrooms on his omelette and she said, "Of course, because you're such a fun-gi!" I know it's little kid humor but I giggled. It took MT a minute, but it was early and he hadn't had his caffeinated beverage yet. (heehee)
Today I've been puttering around the house. I did laundry (clean gym clothes!); I paid the bills; I went to the store. I also made a playlist of Chris Stapleton songs. We are going to see him in concert on Saturday. I'm looking forward to it. I'm also making a playlist of songs by artists I have seen at RBG this summer. I added the Mary Poppins suite by Jenny Oaks Baker to the playlist today. This week I'll get to work at the Lost 80s concert which features A Flock of Seagulls and Wang Chung, among others.
I hope you all had a nice weekend! I'll be back tomorrow with more words so I can get back to my writing-on-even-days schedule.
