I'm continuing to do research on Thailand. My plan is to call the travel agent either next week or the week after and let him know what I'd like to do and have him price it all out. Tentatively, I'd like to spend three or four nights on Koh Samui to begin with. It's in the Gulf of Thailand and close to some good snorkeling spots for MT. Then I'd like to go over to Cambodia and spend two or three nights (probably two) in Siem Reap. I want to spend a day at Angkor Wat, and Siem Reap is the closest city to the site. After that, I want to go back to Thailand to the Krabi province, but I think I want to stay down at Koh Lanta for four or five nights. It might not be as flashy as Phuket or Koh Phi Phi, but both MT and I like to go places that you really want to get to, a little off the beaten path. Although I'm sure that both Koh Samui and Koh Lanta get their fair share of tourists, they seem like they might be a little more laid back and have all the stuff I'm looking for.
Early days, though. We'll see what the travel agent can put together. So many things to consider!
This is one of the hotels I'm checking out on Koh Lanta. Pretty! |
