#2084 three things: football, cooling off and dip
1. College football is back! I have spent a very pleasant evening sitting on my couch watching Utah
football's first game of the season. The Utes started slow but finished strong, beating in-state opponent, the Weber State Wildcats by 31 points. The final score is 41-10.
I think this is the first time I've sat on my couch and watched a long stretch of TV for quite awhile.
2. Changing seasons. Fall is on it's way. The temperatures have cooled off during the day, although it was around 90 degrees when I left work this afternoon. Still, in the morning there is a chill in the air. Plus, it's dark when I wake up. In the summer, it can be pretty light outside even at 5:30 in the morning but recently it's still dusky even at 6:30. I'm not all the way ready for summer to be over, but I sure do appreciate the cooler weather.
Another sign of the changing season was that one of my favorite trees at Red Butte Garden is already getting orange leaves at the top.
3. Dip Day. We have a tradition at work that we fondly call Dip Day. Everyone brings their favorite dip or treat to share and it is a food festival. Thankfully we have it just every few months because I have a serious love/hate relationship with Dip Day. For one thing, most of the treats are not low calorie. The use of sour cream and cream cheese is encouraged. Chips and crackers abound. There are usually plenty of sweets too. It's fun to sample everything and chat and enjoy the camaraderie that comes when people share food. It's also hard to stop when there is so much and it's so good. Like I said, love/hate.
