#2848 three things: influenced!

I have a confession: I have been influenced by the internet and in the past six weeks or so, I have bought three things I saw advertised on Instagram.

1. Charix shoes. The ad on IG said these were the perfect travel shoes. I was seduced by the happy women on the ad who talked about walking for miles in Mexico in these shoes, the reviews I read online, and the plethora of color options on the website. They are also pretty pricey. I was super nervous about buying shoes online. My feet are brick-shaped, wide and rectangular. One of my feet is slightly bigger (or smaller) than the other. Shoes are kind of my nemesis. I stewed over the decision for several weeks before I clicked Purchase.

Yes, I bought the shoes, and they are easily the most expensive shoes I've ever bought. No, I didn't get anything fancy, just black. The first morning I put them on, I kinda fell in love with them. The leather is so soft. They just slipped right on my feet. I didn't wear socks. I wore them all day and they were comfortable and great. I've worn them since, and they have always been good. No, I haven't walked a bunch of miles in them, but I'm going to, because they are coming on vacation with me. Also, I would really like to buy another pair, not for vacation, but because they are comfortable and simple and pretty. I'd like to get a pair of the  mules.

2. DRMTLGY tinted moisturizer. My skin tone is uneven and I'm pasty white. I was thinking about getting a tinted moisturizer, and then, here comes an ad for DRMTLGY and I wanted that dewy glow and even tint. I bought this from Amazon. It is easily the most expensive moisturizer I have ever purchased. It's funny because if Lizzie or my BFF LA told me they would like to have this moisturizer for their birthday or Christmas, I wouldn't hesitate to get it for them, but for myself, I balked at the price.

It does not make my skin look dewy. Maybe I am past the dewy skin age. I do like the coverage and even-ness of my skin tone. It looks natural and feels okay on my skin. I like the high SPF content. We'll see how that holds up as I walk around Paris and Barcelona.

3. Wellow compression socks. I like to wear compression socks on the airplane, and also after a long day of walking around. They give my feet and legs a hug. For my trip last April, I bought a package of compression socks from Amazon, but I didn't really like them. They were nylon and spandex, so they weren't soft or breathable. Boom! There is an add for Wellow on IG. These socks are made from bamboo fiber as well as nylon and spandex, so they looked a lot softer and nicer on the ad. They are expensive, easily the most expensive socks I have ever purchased.

What I like about them is that they are soft and cozy plus, they have a wide calf option and I need that. My calves are big, like I can't wear boots big, even boots for wide calves. (I've tried, and it was demoralizing.) I got the regular size wide calves socks, and I'm kinda wishing I got the next bigger wide calves size, but they are okay. I wore them while I worked from home the other day, and my feet and legs felt happy and snug and loved, and the circulation at the top of my calf where the socks hold on to my legs wasn't all choked off like with the nylon socks.

The bottom line is that I am happy with all three of my internet-influenced purchases. All of it is going on vacation with me, so I'll let you know how they all hold up when I get back home.
