I was treated to quite a thunder/lightning/rain storm show on my way home from work today. I would have taken pics, but I was driving. By the time I got home, it had cleared out.
I headed south from my office and the sky in front of me was dark gray and you could see the rain coming down to the west over the Oquirrh mountains. There was a lot of traffic, so it was moving pretty slowly. Every once in awhile, the sky would shimmer with lightning. There were some steaks of lightning, but there was more "sheets" of lightning. It would flash and it looked like the clouds just shimmered with light. It was cool and kind of creepy, too.
Soon the thunder followed closely or simultaneously with the lightning. I was further west but heading south again when the heavens opened up and it poured down rain. No one was going very fast because you could not see in front of you for very far at all. It rained really hard for about five minutes, then it let up, then it was just sprinkling.
By the time I got to the vet's office to pick up Osi's medicine, the storm was basically over in my area. There were still some clouds settled down low on the Oquirrhs, and it was sprinkling sporadically, but not enough to have the windshield wipers going.
We have clouds and rain in the forecast through the week and through the Memorial Day weekend. Bummer. I'm ready for some sun :)
