#664 I feel anxiety :(

Oh my gosh. My stomach hurts tonight, and I'm going to blame it all on my husband.

We got our itinerary and confirmations for our trip today. There are "Terms and Conditions" and a sentence in big red bold letters that says

**ALL PASSPORTS MUST BE VALID FOR 60 DAYS FROM DAY OF DEPARTURE"

MT interpreted the sentence as saying that you had to have a valid passport for 60 days before you left. This is a problem. T's passport has expired and we have tried twice this month to get to the post office to renew, but couldn't get in either time. We have an appointment on the 31st and we expect to pay a fee to expedite the passport process, but there's no way we'll have the passport 60 days before we leave.

After reading the sentence over and over and over, after looking through the guidebooks and at the State Department website, I'm pretty confident that we have to have a valid passport to leave the country, but we could receive it the day prior to departure and we'll be fine. I interpret the sentence to say that the passport wouldn't work if it expired within 60 days of departure. So say we leave on June 5. The passport would have to be valid through August 5. Is that how you read it?

I fired off a totally panic-y email to my travel agent, but I think I'm ok. I'll call her first thing in the morning though. Hopefully we'll be ok. I just hope that the State Department will move right along with T's passport so we don't have any issue there. I should have been more on the passport thing (it expired in November) but with the holidays and then with my dad's stuff, it really just slipped my mind.

Speaking of my dad, he is the other cause for concern tonight. Earlier this month he had to go back to the hospital and had another surgery because the infection was back. Last weekend he was moved back to the convalescent/rehab facility in Long Beach and I am concerned that the care he is receiving there isn't very good. I was talking to MT about it, and he asked me if we should look into getting an attorney. I had actually been thinking the same thing.

Then MT started getting really animated about the whole thing. (He does that.) The next thing I know, he's shouting, "They are killing your dad! They're killing him!"

Now I'm really upset, and I called my mom to talk to her about the possibility of getting an attorney. She's going to talk to the center's director tomorrow, and I would like to talk to him/her on Friday when I am there. My poor dad has enough going on without getting poor care at a place that is supposed to be helping him get well.

Hopefully tomorrow night I'll be able to write a more upbeat entry and let you know that everything is ok.

i THINK IT MEANS THAT THE PASSPORT HAS TO BE VALID FOR AT LEAST 60 DAYS AFTER THE TRIP DATE.
And tell Marty to chill, nobody's killing anybody, is just his colostomy bag is hard to place right since his stoma is so different, but I agree they need to learn how to do it better and I will talk to them tomorrow.

Yes, your Mom is right Sandy. In our passport (Sweden) it actually says just that. The passport must be valid 6 months after returning home (or something like that). So I once had to get a new one when I went to see you all.
You haven't mentionned yet where you're going?
I'm glad you're going down (and that Lizzie comes frequently) to see your Dad and Mom. Good of you dealing with the care unit. It's so essential when you're trying to get well that you have the best care possible and that you enjoy being there as well.
Myself I'm off to London very early tomorrow morning with my job.
I have organized the whole thing, booked everything so I'm excited and hopes everything is going to turn out well.
Take care and give a big hug to all loved ones.
Love you!
Mia :-)
