I'm still here! T and I are back in SLC now after an eventful flight from Long Beach on Sunday, em, I mean Monday morning. I'll explain:
Our flight out of Long Beach was slightly delayed on Sunday night. No big deal. The problem came when we got in the Salt Lake area and a series of thunderstorms prevented us from landing. Fearing that we would not have enough fuel to circle the area for as long as necessary, it was decided that our plane would go to Las Vegas, refuel, and come back to Salt Lake. Now, the flight to Las Vegas is about one hour. From where we were, it took us about 45 minutes to get to Vegas. We would have had to circle for longer than that to avoid the storms? Sheesh! I just thought of that.
So we went to Las Vegas. We pulled into the airport gas pump and refueled. We were not allowed to get off the plane, so we stood up and moved around as much as we could for the 30 minutes or so that we were on the ground. We did finally get to Salt Lake. We landed at 3 AM local time, so we were in the plane for about five hours (Long Beach to SLC is a 90 minutes flight.) We got home at 4 AM.
Fortunately I didn't have to work on Monday; instead I played in a work-related golf tournament. It was the first time I'd played a round of golf in about a year and a half. I didn't play as poorly as I might have, given all the circumstances. Our team came in second (first losers!) and I had the long drive of the day. Then I came home and took a nap.
Monday was my 18th wedding anniversary. :D MT and I celebrated by going to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, El Habanero. The restaurant added an outdoor seating area that is quite nice, and we ate out there. It wasn't a very festive meal. We were both exhausted. MT had to work at 3 AM on Monday - I called him when we landed in SLC and he was just getting to work.
After dinner, I decided that I had to have some cross-trainers (yes, this again!) because my feet were hammered. Walking around D-land in flip-flops was bad and my feet hurt most of the weekend, plus my golf shoes are not cushion-y and that Thing on My Foot was hurting. MT went with me to Famous Footwear, and he was very helpful. So was the girl/lady who guided me to the men's department. Men's shoes tend to be a little wider than women's, and even though the shoes aren't really cute, they are comfortable. I got two pairs of cross-trainers. I wore one pair today and my feet were happy.
I made a change today. I cut my hair. I was tired of it's bushy straw-like texture. I needed a change, so I chopped it off. Well, Lanna, my stylist, chopped it off at my direction. It's quite short and it sure looked cute when I left the salon. I hope that I can style it as cute as Lanna did. I'm not very good with the styling tools, but I'm hopeful that I can handle it.
Want to see?
That's all I got for today!
