#595 Secret Santa gave me Michael Buble!
At work, a group of us are playing Secret Santa with each other. We each drew a name and we are that person's Secret Santa. We play for a couple of weeks. We try to figure out who our Santa is, and we'll have a lunch on the 19th and try to guess our Santa. Usually, we give each other little gifts over the days, then maybe something a little bigger on the lunch day. There are 11 of us playing this time, so maybe it will be easy to guess who my Santa is. The thing is, there are a lot of "elves" this year - people who are not playing but who deliver our gifts. I have a couple of Santa suspects, but I don't know for sure yet.
I have received a cute ornament, a box of hot chocolates from Starbucks (I can't wait to try the salted caramel!), a diet Coke and some gum, and some toffee. The best thing I've received was the first thing Santa left me: the Michael Buble "Christmas" CD.
I have heard of Michael before, but I wouldn't call myself a fan or anything. But let me tell you that when I slipped the CD into the player in my car and heard his velvety croon, I was hooked. He does the song "Jingle Bells" with someone called the Puppini Sisters, and I love it! Check out a clip.
You know what it reminds me of? Back in the 40s and 50s people used to get all dressed up and go to supper clubs or lounges to hear acts sing - you know, like in the movie "White Christmas"? The Haynes Sisters had an act; Wallace & Davis were an act? Please tell me you know what I'm talking about! Anyway, when I heard Michael Buble sing the Christmas songs with his crooner voice, I was right in a supper club, wearing a beautiful dress and stockings with seams up the back and pumps and maybe even a hat with a little veil over one eye. And red lipstick. And satin gloves. MT was wearing a tuxedo and we sipped martinis and listened to Michael Buble.
Michael Buble had a Christmas special on TV on Tuesday, but I was at the gym and missed it. I actually just found out about it tonight when I was on my computer downloading the CD into my iTunes account so I could then download it to my various iPod devices.
Anyway, I love the CD and if my Secret Santa doesn't bring me anything else, I'm really happy with everything. Thank you Secret Santa!
