Words with Friends is fun. It's like a little private Scrabble game you can play with your Facebook friends. I've got five or six games going and I enjoy it.
Last night, T and I were hanging out watching the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) awards and T asked me what was the big deal about Words with Friends. I told him it was fun and you had to do a little thinking and be a little creative with the word placement to maximize your score. I told him there was a free version available through the app store, and he should check it out, so he did.
And that's when the Words with Friends Monster was born.
I think he's already addicted. He texted me at work. "Play Words with Friends now!" He's playing with other friends. I hear him say things like, "Take that, son!" and "I beat Grammy last night!" (That was probably beginners luck, but it shows that you can win if you get good letters and some good word placement!)
A few weeks ago, I noticed something was missing from T's room. It was his xBox. I was concerned that it was broken or that he'd sold it without my knowledge. Nope, wrong on both counts. When I asked him about it, he said he'd packed it up and put it away. Why? Because it was "distracting" him. Distracting him from what? His schoolwork. He gets good grades, but I guess he wants to get really good grades.
What I can tell you is that he's been a lot more pleasant to be around since he put the video games away. He hasn't even got it out on weekends. He's been watching a lot of movies, and then we sometimes actually talk about the movies, too. He's playing around on his computer a lot, watching YouTube videos and I guess that's ok.
The other night, T and MT were wrestling and one of the lenses popped out of T's glasses. We can't find it. He's going to the eye doctor on Saturday and we'll get new glasses. He's really good about wearing them at home.
One more thing about T. He is working on/in the school play. He's in the ensemble chorus and he'll also be working on the set design. He said he wanted to be involved with something after school. I think it's great and I'm happy that he found something fun to do. The play will be performed at the end of March.
