#2116 family movie night: Bohemian Rhapsody

IMDb

It's $5 Tuesday at Salt Lake movie theaters, so the three of us went to see Bohemian Rhapsody.

I love the music of Queen. I knew a bit of the story of Freddie Mercury. The movie is about how Queen became a band and how they went about creating their music. It's also about Freddie's life and lifestyle, but none of it, from the band and their music to Freddie's life is done in any kind of detail. It's kinda weird in that way.

Rami Malik plays Freddie Mercury and he is fantastic. Gwilym Lee is Brian May and he is a ringer. The music, of course, is incredible. The big payoff comes at the end with the Live Aid scene.
Watching the end of the film took me right back to the summer of 1985.

The movie was just okay for me. What I liked the best about it was hearing the Queen songs again and reliving the Live Aid performance.
