The best thing about today was looking forward to, and then talking to, my sister. While we might call at other times during the week, we have a standing date to chat on Tuesday night. I have a standing date to chat with my mom on Friday night. MT jokes that we are so “formal” about it, but I really like knowing that I have these weekly appointments. I know for an hour or so once a week, I get uninterrupted access to my mom and to my sister. (Sometimes there are interruptions, but they are always on my end.)
Almost all of our conversations start with, “I don’t have much to say.” An hour later, we are still chatting!
The three of us send texts throughout the week as little things come up, but nothing beats those Tuesday and Friday calls.
