#2590 weekend wrap-up

This weekend passed by in a jiffy! I'm in denial that it is already 10 pm on Sunday night. We did fun things on both weekend days. I'll tell you about them.

Last night, Saturday, MT and I went up to Sundance to see the first live music event either of us has been to since The Before Times. It was the first show of the Bluebird Cafe concert series at Sundance Resort! YAY! Technically, it was the second show because Sundance now has shows on Friday and Saturday night. Before the show, we stopped for dinner at Strap Tank Brewery in Lehi. It was good food and good beer and a cool space, too. Sundance is still gorgeous, even though it is extremely smoky here. I don't know specifically where the smoke is all coming from, but it's really yucky.

We sat up on the mountain in our "concert" chairs. I'm glad I brought a light sweatshirt, because it did cool off  when the sun went down. What a pleasant way to spend the evening! The Bluebird Cafe concert series is a songwriter's showcase, so even though I didn't know the men who were performing, I did know the songs they had written. One of the songwriters was a fellow named Roger Cook. The man has written a lot of well-known songs! He wrote "I Believe in You", made famous by Don Williams. He wrote "Long Cool Woman (in a Black Dress)" that was a huge hit for The Hollies back in the day. He also wrote "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" - you may know it as the Coca-Cola jingle. This little old guy sat up there with a ukulele and each time it was his turn to sing, he busted out a song everybody knows, and he had written them! It was really cool.

This afternoon, MT, T and I had family movie day. We all went to the theater to see Black Widow. You know, I love those Marvel movies, and this one was a good one. I liked that it was female-centric: the main characters were women and the men were the villain and the comic relief.  There were too many gratuitous Scarlett Johansen butt shots, but other than that, it was good stuff. Lots of action!

Other than those two "events", the weekend was pretty much business as usual.

Oh, hey! I was seriously lagging on my Reading tab, so I updated it tonight. In June and so far in July, I have read eight books. I'm going to crush my weird reading goal of 36 books, proably this month. I'm already up to 34. I will update that goal. I knew 36 was too low. I really thought I'd do other stuff, like watch more movies or something. There are just so many cool books out there to read!
