#2810 weekend wrap-up

I jubilantly wrote on Friday about Utah beating USC in the PAC-12 Championship. I kinda rode that high on into Saturday. :) I went to a local bougie grocery store to pick up some coffee and the ingredients to make the Mississippi mud cake that I think I also talked about on Friday. I got home around 09:30, thinking I'd only missed about 30 minutes of the US/Netherlands World Cup match, but it started earlier than I noted, so I only saw the last 15 minutes or so. The US lost, not surprisingly, but I hoped they might be able to advance. Maybe 2026, when the tournament is here in North America, and the team is more in their prime, there will be a different result.

In the afternoon, I did art and I made that cake.

It tastes good, although I wish I'd made the frosting a little thicker. Next time!

Today I put up Christmas decorations! I have two fake trees. The big one is in the TV room, and there's a smaller one in the front room. I put out six nutcrackers of the army of 20 I have. It seems like I have plenty of things out, but I didn't put all my things out. I am happy with how it looks. The dogs haven't seemed interested in any of it, so that's cool.

MT and I had delicious chili verde enchiladas for lunch from a good Mexican restaurant. We came home and had cake for dessert, then we both took a nap. I snoozed on the couch under my weighted blanket with a YouTube Christmas scene and music playing quietly. The dogs were both snuggled up with me, and it was good.

Tonight I've been doing my bookkeeping and uploading documents to my financial advisor. I am focused on retiring in about three years, and our advisor says it looks like it won't be a financial problem!

I haven't had a chance to do any art yet today, so I think I might take a few minutes here before I go to bed to sketch something. I've been pretty good about doing some art every day. It's kind of meditative, and I figure the best way to get more comfortable with it is to keep doing it.

What's coming up this week? My new glasses have come in, so I'll go pick them up tomorrow. I have some books that I will take to work to share with my co-workers, and a credit union board meeting on Thursday. I bought a gift for someone today (!) and I hope to do some more shopping this week. I want to get a package sent to La Mirada by the 15th, I think. Another thing I want to do this week is send out Christmas cards. I got a new book from Ekpe, so I'll be reading that book this week. Oh yeah! I have a couple of plants that I propagated that have good strong roots now, and I'll plant them this week. Plus I have a succulent plant that was just a wee thing when I got it that has grown merrily and now needs a bigger pot! I'll replant him tomorrow. I think that's all the stuff on my calendar. It looks like we will get a bit of snow this week, so there's that, too.

I hope y'all had a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your week. Do something fun!
