#2922 Camogli

How about a little more Camogli to finish out the week?

The art group, along with Suzy and Jeannette, went to Camogli  the afternoon of Friday, October 18. Camogli is an eight minute train ride from Rapallo. In spite of the pick-pocket incident, I really loved riding on the trains. Clean, quick, and easy. Highly recommend.

Once we got to town, it was a quick walk down to the waterfront area from the train station. The view of the water took my breath away. I think the people from San Diego are used to the sight of the sea because some of them didn't seem quite so enamored with it as I was.

Basically, the plan was for everyone to go explore or whatever on their own, and we would meet up for some art time a couple of hours later. There was time to walk around and to have lunch, which is what Lizzie and I chose to do. One of the women went swimming. The water does look pretty inviting, doesn't it? There were a few people out on the beach and swimming that day. We didn't even go down on the sand.

As I said in my previous post, Lizzie and I didn't know what we didn't know, so we just started walking. We found this walkway near the harbor and walked until we could walk no further, then we took some photos.

We were getting hungry, and we finally agreed to a restaurant whose name I do not recall. I do remember the server was Spanish, the beer was cold, and the food was really good! We started with a little pastry pocket of melty cheese, and shared a main dish of ravioli with meat sauce.

get in my face!!

Italian food is delicious

Living the dream

I stand corrected: I thought this was the same restaurant where Suzy and Jeannette had lunch, but Lizzie mentioned in a comment that she thought they were at a different place, but it was right next door. I can tell you that I was way happier with what I had than what they had (fish).

After the meal, we walked 32 paces to the bar where we would have art time.

Jill had a couple of projects she wanted us to do, and we were also free to play around however we wanted. This is one of the things I did:

Here is what I was based my art on:

Camogli

That cluster of buildings on the left side include a church and a castle. I don't really know much more than that. I mostly think Camogli's claim to fame is the brightly painted buildings and overall picturesque-ness of it all.

Lizzie and I had been in Rapallo all week, so it was great to see a different little town. I don't know that I would like to stay in Camogli, but I did enjoy visiting there. A highlight was going to a cute bookshop on the lungomare. I wanted to buy many things, but settled for a cool bookmark. I had limited space and a many more places to see and perhaps things to buy.

At the end of our time in the town, Jeanette offered to take everyone's photos. Of course Lizzie and I posed together. I love this pic!

I hope you've had a lovely weekend - I did! - and have a nice week planned.

That's a beautiful view of the Ligurian coast. The food looks good, especially the cheese thingies :) I love the pictures of you and Lizzie!
