This morning when I woke up it was raining/snowing. This was bad news for me because I was committed to walk in a 5K that was being held in Layton. I probably wouldn't have bothered with it if I'd paid the entry fee myself, but since the Company paid and I'd committed, I felt obligated to go.
So I bundled myself up and drove the 45 minutes to Layton. I got there really early because I wasn't sure how long it would take me to get there and actually find the place. I didn't mind sitting in my nice warm car, practicing my Spanish and watching the snow fall. At least the wind wasn't blowing. It was just snowing a lot.
Then my friend Abby got there and we sat in my car and chatted. Then, just in time for the walk to begin, the snow stopped.
A 5K is about three miles. At this event, there was a family/fun walk and an actual race. I was registered in the walk and I was fully prepared to walk three miles. However, the event organizers decided that in order for the runners and walkers to finish at around the same time so they could hand out the raffle prizes and such, the family/fun walk would just be one mile. So 18 minutes later, I was done. That's right. I drove 45 minutes then waited about an hour in my car for 18 minutes worth of activity. To make matters worse, I decided to stay for the raffle - they were raffling an iPad! What if they called my number? - so there was at least another hour that I sat around there. GRR. Not the best use of my Saturday morning.
When I got home I went ahead and did my P90X workout (back and biceps!) Then I showered and turned on the Masters golf tournament. It was still snowing. Golf on TV is soothing. The announcers speak very quietly. Osi wanted to snuggle and she was so warm and cuddly that I went ahead and fell asleep. Not the best use of my Saturday afternoon.
The boys woke me up because they were hungry. Fortunately, they didn't wake me up to tell me to make them some food. We went to Kneaders and had a sandwich. I'm still full. When we got home, MT and I watched the movie "Life As We Know It." I saw it at the theater when it came out and I liked it well enough. It has Josh Duhamel, and he's lovely. MT says it has eye candy for boys (Katherine Heigl) and for girls (Josh). It's a much better movie than the one we watched last night, "How Do You Know" with Reese Witherspoon. It just wasn't very good.
Anyway, now it's 10:00 and I feel a little gross because I didn't eat very well today and I didn't do very much so I'll have lots to get done tomorrow and why do weekend days go by so fast?
