#523 catching up

How embarrassing! I haven't posted anything since April 14? What have I been doing with my time? If I'd been busy having a fabulous time, that might be a valid excuse. But, there's really no reason for it.

Last month, I spent part of a week with my family in California. It was good to get away from soggy Utah for a few days. It wasn't really warm, but it was warmer than here. The week T and I were there, my parents were at the hospital each day where my dad was learning how to do his dialysis. Fortunately, my aunt from Sweden was visiting, so I got to spend some nice time with her! She taught me to make real Swedish meatballs. I can't wait to try the recipe out on MT!

One of the days we were together we visited the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. It's a cool place. The exhibits are really nice. While we were there, we decided to go on a whale watching trip. It was the end of the grey whale migration season, but we still managed to spot a mama and a baby! We also say another whale breaching. Very cool. T does not enjoy boating. It's true that the water was pretty rough on the way out, but the trip back was quite nice. And you would think at my age that I would finally know that you should always put on sun screen if you're going to be outside for awhile, say on a 3 hour boat cruise. Man, my nose and forehead were FRIED! Both of those areas peeled twice the minute I got back home to the dry, dry air of Utah. Still, it was a good time!

I really haven't been doing too much since returning from California. I've read a couple of books. I'm still doing P90X. I think today was Day 62. While I'm on the subject of P90X, I'll vent for a minute.

All the infomercials say that you'll be in the best shape of your life at the end of 90 days. OK, well, that's probably going to be true for me, because I've never really been in good shape, so I'll certainly be in better shape than ever before. However, I don't anticipate any weight loss. I hope to see a change in my measurements, but I'm not sure about that. I am stronger and more flexible, but I find myself wondering if that's good enough. What I know for sure is that my arthritic knee is wounded and it's because of P90X. You really put some abuse on your joints with this program. I know, I know. I should have stopped. But I signed on for 90 days and by gosh, I am going to finish this. I do baby that leg, though. After vacation, I'll see how it feels. If it still feels like this, I'll be visiting my orthopedic doctor.

Anyway...on a more positive side...a month from today we'll be on our first full day of vacation in the Dominican Republic! We're really looking forward to it.

That's all I've got for tonight. I'll do better about writing and trying to be interesting ;o)
