#588 someone else's fridge and where I learned the chicken noise

My brother-in-law, Kevin, is moving back to Arizona for work following his latest (and final!) tour of duty in Iraq and the leave he was granted after his return. While he was on leave, he lived in his cabin in a remote part of southeastern Idaho. Today he loaded up a trailer and he and his lady friend, Janet, started driving to Tucson. They stopped here for a bite of dinner and to pick up a couple of his things that we had. We were given the contents of his fridge.

It was interesting to see what he had in his refrigerator. There were a few things that will most likely not be in my fridge again, like Greek olives and a turnip. In fact, the turnip didn't even make it into my fridge. I have no idea what to do with it, so I just threw it away. There was also a random parsnip. Perhaps they were going to roast some root veggies and ran out of time.

There were several different bottles of salsa and hot sauce, a big block of cheddar cheese and a bit of Brie. There was mustard and mayonnaise and BBQ sauce and a home-canned jar of something brown. Maybe I'll open that tomorrow to find out what it is.

Anyway, I thought it was kind of funny to get the contents of the refrigerator. Of course there was no beer. They probably drank all of that rather than pack it up :)Not that I would blame them!

I went to see "The Muppets" movie today. I just went by myself, and I felt a little strange sitting in the big theater alone, surrounded by families. At first, I was thinking, "Oh my God, what am I doing here?" but then it got pretty funny and kind of sweet and I was hooked. There were lots of cameos of famous people, and the songs were cute. I especially like the Man/Muppet song; is he a manly Muppet or a Muppet of a man? And "Rainbow Connection?" Forget about it! I was teary. Just wonderful.

I also remembered/learned something very important. There is something I do to entertain my kid and my dog that I got straight from the Muppets, but I didn't even remember that it was from the Muppets. I make this chicken noise - BOK BOK BOK BOK BA-GOK! - that drives my dog nuts and makes T laugh. So I'm sitting there watching the movie and Gonzo shows up with his chicken who says, "Bok bok". Later, she is joined by her chicken friends and they do the whole "BOK BOK BOK BOK BA-GOK!" thing and I was laughing so hard that the little kid next to me must have surely thought I was mental.

Anyway, the Muppets are adorable as always and it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
