Every now and again, I have lunch at a Subway restaurant near my work. Actually, it's right next to my bank, so when I make the deposit for the rentals, I usually get a sandwich. There's also a high school near the place, so usually there are quite a few teenagers having lunch there as well.
I had a deposit to make today (YAY! Everyone paid!) so I decided to get a sandwich. While I was getting my beverage, I overheard this conversation between three older people, two men and a woman. These three had to be in their 70s, based on their comments. I didn't hear the whole conversation, only this snippet.
Man 1: I can't believe all these kids in here.
Man 2: We certainly didn't go out for lunch when I younger.
Woman: We barely went out when we just married. (Laughs)
Man 1: I was making $5 a day and supporting seven kids. We couldn't go out!
My thoughts: well, you weren't going out, but you were certainly busy, mister. Busy making babies!
I love Utah.
