#981 Phil, movies, cooking and a plea to the royal parents

Yesterday was so hot and dry and yucky, I stayed inside most of the day and watched TV. I probably could have been doing something worthwhile, but I didn't.

In the morning, I watched The Open Championship. I was happy for Phil Mickelson. I must admit that I've always been more of a Tiger fan than a Phil fan, but watching Phil take care of business on the course yesterday was good fun. And at the end, when he was hugging his caddy of 21 years and they were both all teary, you know I got teary myself. I couldn't find a picture of that moment, but here they are holding the Claret Jug.

After the golf match, MT and I went to have lunch. When I got home, T was watching the movie Juno so I plopped down and watched it, too. We also watched the movie The Avengers later in the evening.  I did do the grocery shopping and some laundry, so I wasn't completely lazy.

Today it was back to work. I decided a good way to start a week would be a trip to Starbucks for a grande non-fat iced vanilla chai. Yum! It did get me started on the right foot today. Of course, knowing that I have a day off on Wednesday also made me feel pretty happy. Wednesday is July 24, a state holiday here in Utah.

Tonight I made dinner. I tried a couple new recipes. I made really tasty rice, Cafe Rio style. I used the recipe from this website, but I changed it up a little. I used about half a can of diced green chilis, a bit of onion, a couple cloves of garlic, a handful of cilantro, a bit of cumin, some lime zest and the juice of half a lime. I put that in my little food processor and grinded it all up. It smelled so fresh and good! In my rice cooker, I put a cup of water and a cup of chicken stock, the grinded up good-smelling stuff, and a cup of brown rice. I mixed it all together, turned on the rice cooker and let it go to work. So good! I'll definitely make that rice again!

To go along with it, I cooked salmon with a sriracha lime sauce. Instead of maple syrup, I used honey and it worked just fine. I should have used more sriracha because I couldn't even taste the spice. I ended up adding a few drops to my fish when I plated it. Next time I'll know what to do. It was still good.

I was going to make some green beans, but I got so caught up in the rice, I forgot all about the haricots verts.

Now it's time for bed! The evenings go by so quickly! I didn't watch TV or a movie tonight (although T and MT are watching The Departed). I had to pay the bills. Guess what I'll do tomorrow? I will be completing the online registration for T's high school. GULP!

I'm off to bed. I will rest easily knowing there is a new future king in the world. Congrats Wills & Kate! Please don't name your sweet baby George.

What's wrong with George? I like the name Jorge in Spanish and Jordi in catalan.
