I have a habit of trying to cram too many things into most days, and especially on the weekends. This weekend was no exception. I probably had at least 10 things that I wanted to accomplish around the house or personally and that doesn't count the stuff I do regularly like walking the dogs or recording blooms.
This morning was different. I took a look at my list of things to do, and I picked three things that I felt absolutely had to be done today. They were pretty easy, too: to get my bookkeeping/paperwork all caught up, to change the sheets on my bed, and to remove the remainder of the polish on my toenails. (I'd been picking at the polish and some toes were bare and some were patchy and they all looked awful.) I felt like anything else that got done over and above those three things was a bonus.
The best thing about today is that I did accomplish the three things I felt had to be done. By keeping my intention simple, I didn't feel a lot of pressure on myself and I did manage to do a few other things that made me happy, like doing a load of laundry - from sorting to putting it away. That almost never happens. I only did one load, but it is completely done and I feel great about it!
When I got done with the bookkeeping portion of the day, I decided to spend a few minutes on some clean up in the desk. I cleaned out all three drawers and the shelf of the desk. I had some random stuff in there that I just threw away. It felt really good! I boxed up paperwork from 2020 that I felt we needed to keep (taxes and stuff like that) and then I took the box downstairs to store. I still have a lot of work to do to clean up this office, and I'm glad I took a bit of time to do a little something about it today.
This morning MT and I took the dogs to the dog park. It was sunny and there was just a little breeze, so it was pleasant for the humans and the dogs had fun. We made new friends with Boston, a border collie who is very protective of his tennis ball, and a six month old poodle/St. Bernard mix called Buddy who is going to be huge someday but who is about the size of my dogs right now. Boston and Buddy's people are nice, too.
For dinner tonight I made chile verde from the recipe that Mom gave me. I used the Trader Joe's green salsa, and it was really good. The pork was from the shoulder I'd cooked a few weeks ago and had frozen, so the meat was tender and the flavor from the salsa was mild and savory. MT and T both had two servings. There's enough left for me to have it for lunch tomorrow.
I hope you had a great day and a nice weekend.
