The best thing about today was the first couple of hours of the day. Granted, the day is incomplete, but I don't think that anything will top how I feel about the way I started the day.
I changed my work hours to 7 AM to 4 PM. The mornings have kind of been a challenge of my own making. I get up just after 5AM on work at the office days, and around 6AM on work from home days. Last night I decided that it would be better if I woke up at the same time every day, so I figured 5:30 would be a good target.
Today was a WFH day, so I knew I'd be ready to work by 7AM no problem. So here's what I did. I got up and got ready for work - very simple process on days when I work at home. By a bit after 6, I leashed up the dogs and took them for a quick walk around the neighborhood. I fed them, then zipped over to Starbucks to pick up a mocha. When I got home, I had a bit of time to sit out on the deck in the sunshine and read my book for a few minutes. The dogs were playing. The birds were chirping. The flowers on the deck are blooming. The coffee was warm and I felt happy.
When it was time to come in and log in for work, I was in a really good mental place. It was a wonderful way to start the day!
