12 days 'til Christmas

And the winner is...Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan. How did I choose it? It was at the bottom of my "to read" pile meaning it has been there for quite awhile. I'll probably read it simultaneously with the third Megan McCafferty book that I'll pick up at the library this weekend.

T and I met with his teacher tonight to discuss T's progress. With his grades there's not much to talk about. He's an excellent reader, he's good at math and pretty much everything, so far. He needs a little work on his socialization. His teacher says that because he can finish his work quickly, he chats with the other kids. He's also a bit of a clown, and who doesn't like to make people laugh? He's a little disruptive. His teacher, Mr. P, says he will help T learn the appropriate time to joke around and have fun. I also challenged T to read some books other than ones he has read before. I don't even know how many times he has read those Harry Potter books. I have nothing against Harry Potter, I've read all of them twice myself (except the last one). But there are lots of books out there and I think T should try some others. Mr. P suggested Charles Dickens. I don't know if that would have been my first suggestion, but it just jumped right out of his mouth. So we'll try it.

MT and I have decided to fly to California for Christmas instead of drive! Even though it's a little more money than we wanted to spend, I'm glad we made the decision. Instead of days it will only take hours to get there now, and we will get to spend more time with my parents, and that is a good thing!

This weekend my parents will be in San Diego visiting my sister and her family. Tomorrow night my sister's sweetheart, Han, will be performing at the Star of India in an annual show hosted by Tim Flannery. My parents are going to the show and they will spend a couple of nights in San Diego. Mom's birthday is Monday, so it's kind of a birthday break. Sounds fun. I will be here in snowy SLC, finishing up my Christmas shopping. I'm getting closer to being done! I just shipped Lizzie's stuff tonight; the Pocatello group has their stuff, so I just need to finish up my aunts and uncles and my son's gifts. Easy.
