Long post...lots to say!
The weekend has been fun and busy. Not much rest for us and that's ok. It's part of the fun and chaos of December, right?
On Friday night MT and I went to my company Christmas party. T stayed home with a sitter. The party was pretty fun. It was dinner and casino night. The purpose of casino night is to get tickets to put in drawings for fabulous prizes. Usually MT and I don't play the tables, but we did that night. We went to a table with my friend & co-worker K and our dealer was a boy named Joey. Joey was the luckiest mofo dealer I have ever seen. He's the reason I don't play the tables. This kid was getting 21 every other hand it seemed like. He'd draw a 3 and have a hidden 2, then he'd draw cards and hit 21 all the time. It was insane. We finally made a deal with him that whenever he got 21 he'd give us a chip. Anyway we had a good time and got a few tickets for the drawing. I wanted the grand prize of round trip tickets to San Francisco, hotel, meals and tickets to a Giants game. MT wanted the other grand prize of round trip tickets on Delta to anywhere in the continental U.S. We didn't win anything.
When we left the party it was snowing and had been snowing the entire time we were there, so there was a lot of snow on the ground and it was cold so the roads were very icy. It was a long drive home because we had to go slow. Even so, we did slide off the road on our off-ramp. It was scary, but MT was able to get us right back onto the road. When we got home, I asked the babysitter if she wanted to sleep over (we've known her forever) but she had to go to work the next day so she left.
Saturday...I had to shovel snow. Did I mention that when we pulled into our driveway on Friday night it was so icy that we swerved onto the grass a little? I preferred grass to hitting our other car. So I had to dig my car out of the snow and get it straightened back out on the driveway. But first I finished the project I was working on for my mother-in-law's Christmas present (it turned out great!) T and I went out to do a little shopping, then we went to his first Jr Jazz game of the season. His team won 34-0. Sheesh. T didn't make any baskets, but he was close. He did a great job on defense and stole the ball a couple of times.
When we got home, MT's parents were here. I made a big pan of lasagna and some yummy garlic cheese bread and we feasted before we went to the ballet. Linda, Hannah, T & I went to The Nutcracker. We enjoyed it. The music is wonderful and the dancers are so graceful. After the ballet we walked a couple of blocks up to Temple Square. Hannah had never seen the lights there and it is so beautiful. It was cold but not windy or snowing so it was fun. Hannah, who is very tall, wore high heels that probably weren't very comfy for walking, but she hoofed it out and seemed to have a good time. When we got home, we made a nice hot cup of tea and had a little snack. I thought it was a really fun day.
Today I wrapped the gifts the Pocatello Santas would take back for the rest of the family. This afternoon T and I went to see the movie Enchanted. That is what I was. I loved it! It was so cute; I can't wait to make it a permanent part of my movie collection!
And now it is almost 10:00 and I need to get ready for bed. I'm all tuckered out from this weekend o' fun.
What's coming up this week? MT and I have our yearly visit with Santa to talk about T and to give Santa some ideas about what T would like. I will send a package of gifts to my sister. T has basketball practice on Wednesday. I'm sure there will be plenty to do!
