#204 I miss my bike and other sad stories

MT did a lot of skiing this weekend. His brother Kevin came to town and the two of them skied for three days. On Friday they went to The Canyons, on Saturday they hit Snowbird and today they went to Brighton. The first two days they were on their own, but today Kevin's girlfriend, her daughters and T joined them. MT is so tired out! It's been a long time since he skied three days in a row.

It's also the third Sunday in a row that he has gone skiing with T. This year T got a fifth grade Ski Utah pass. The pass cost only $15, and he has three passes to each of the ski resorts in Utah. They've been to Brighton twice and to Alta once. I think it's great that they are having fun skiing together.

For me it means I have a few free hours on Sunday to do what I want. I've just used the time to do some chores, though. Today I cleaned the kitchen, mainly my cupboards and my fridge. My cupboards were so disorganized I couldn't really fit anything else in. How embarrassing! The top shelf in my cupboard is where I keep medicine. There were quite a lot of expired meds that got thrown away today.

After the kitchen cleaning, I paid my bills, then it was time to go grocery shopping. Before that, though, I took a little walk. It was plenty cold out there, but the sun was shining through the haze and I was bundled up and had my iPod turned up, so it was all good.

Tonight we watched the movie "Swing Vote." I really love Kevin Costner. I enjoyed the movie very much, but it made me kinda sad.

And I now understand more clearly why I like "chick lit" so much. The book I'm reading has made me cry. I almost never cry while reading chick lit. The book, "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" is pretty incredible. I've been up and down with it and I loved the up parts even though I knew the down parts had to be coming. This morning I was reading an up part and I just wanted to keep reading, so I did, then I came to a down part and cried for awhile and I haven't been able to pick the book back up all day, even though I kinda wanted to. <> I will read it before I go to sleep tonight. I thought I might finish the book today but I did other stuff instead.

I don't think I've mentioned T's recent reign of destruction. Today is actually the first Sunday of the year that he hasn't broken anything, at least not that I know. On the 4th, he was experimenting with my exercise bike and took the electronic screen off the bike. I was watching TV at the time and I heard a crashing sound, but I didn't think much of it until he came downstairs and told me I should take a look. The digital display piece was dangling by the myriad of wires. MT stuffed all the wires back down the neck of the bike, but something isn't right because the resistance mechanism isn't working. Pretty bummed about it.

Last weekend, T was taking a shower and tried to adjust the shower head, but instead broke the piece that holds the shower head in place. For a few days the shower head just hung down into the tub until MT could put a new one in. I'm grateful that we had guests this weekend because I think that it was repaired quickly because they were coming. ;-)

So I had been riding my bike about four times a week in the morning before work, but since there's no resistance now, I just pedal and pedal and don't break a sweat or anything. It's not any fun, and I miss it. That's probably another reason why I'm still working on getting through Edgar Sawtelle. I read while I ride the bike, but since I'm not biking, I'm not getting in those extra reading minutes. Darn it!

Man, this is a downer post. Here's a happy thought to end it: On Saturday T's Jr Jazz team played a double-header (back-to-back games) and his team won both games! T did not score, but he did play well and it's more fun to win than to lose and his team was very happy!

Have a great week!

That's fun that T and MT have been skiing and also you had some time to tyourself :)
Sorry to hear about the bike, and the shower. Maybe T takes after grammy, when I was his age they used to call me iron hands because everything I touched, broke. And it still happens!
