All I can say is, the Utah team that I watched today sure wasn't the Utah team I've watched for the past six weeks. They were awful. They couldn't catch anything, they couldn't run, they couldn't make any defensive stops and there was nothing special about special teams. Well, I take that back. The punter did ok. He got a lot of work. The Utes had many three and out drives.
It's just such a bummer to be so hyped and wired and excited about a game and to witness as sound a beating as I've seen. It was ugly. I feel bad for the Utah defense. They were on the field double the amount of time the offense was and they just kept getting scored on. I bet they are tired tonight.
Well, it's just one game, right? Next week, the Utes get to go to South Bend, Indiana to play the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. I'll watch that and hope the Utes can put this week's hot mess behind them and play well.
I gotta say, though, that the shellacking they took today kind of scares me for when the Utes move into the PAC-12 next year and start playing against teams like Oregon and USC. Yikes. I was feeling pretty happy and confident about that move until around 2:00 this afternoon!
In other news, tonight I am full of meat. That doesn't sound right, does it? But it's true. Our credit union hosted a dinner for all it's volunteers tonight at Rodizio Grill, a Brazilian restaurant. It's one of thosse places with a big salad bar and then servers come out with skewers of freshly roasted meat. They slice off a chunk of meat and you eat meat until you're full. I also enjoyed a couple of caipirinhas. (That's a Brazilian mojito-type drink and they are sooooooo good!) I finished off strong with a healthy slice of chocolate cake. And when I say healthy I don't mean good for you, I mean LARGE. I feel kinda crappy now, but it was sure good at the time. I'll do better tomorrow.
One bummer about the meat-fest is that I had to go solo. MT has a really bad cold. He's been home all day, popping Day-Quil and laying on the couch. T spent the day with me at the football game, and he had had his fill of Mom-time. I was mad/sad/cranky/pissed at first, but in the end it was fine. I chatted with the people around me and it was a nice time.
Anyway, that's all for tonight. Don't forget to "Fall Back" and enjoy that extra hour of sleep. I'll leave you tonight with my favorite image from the football game. It happened before the game, during the National Anthem.
E-see you tomorrow!
