#451 a little free time

The company I work for is having a mandatory shut-down next week and wanted everyone to take three vacation days and two holiday days. When we first learned about this shut-down in the summer, I think we were all a little cranky that the company would tell us when we had to take vacation. I know no one I work with felt cranky today. Everyone was anxious to take a little time off.

In fact, we got to leave early this afternoon, and it's great! I loved getting home a couple of hours early. But here's the thing: I didn't really know what to do with myself! Should I read? Take a nap? Take the dog for a walk? Have a snack? Watch TV? Do some laundry? Pay the bills?

I ended up standing in the kitchen, looking for signs of mice. Satisfied that I didn't see any signs, I made some microwave popcorn and covered it in caramel. Then I sat on my bed, stared out the window and snacked. After I washed off my extremely sticky fingers, I turned on my computer, wished my sister happy birthday via Facebook and read a few random blogs (no comments, though.) I also played Spider Solitaire.

Was there a better way to use my free time? Yes, undoubtedly there was. But you know what? I don't care because I AM ON VACATION!

Back at ya tomorrow...
