If you peek at this blog even sporadically, you know that I totally adore my son. He's our only child and I know he's the greatest thing that I have contributed to the world. :)
Tonight I had yet another reason to be proud of him: he was inducted into his high school's chapter of the National Honor Society. NHS is an organization based on four pillars: Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character. T received an invitation to join because of his grades and I was pleased that he completed the application and was accepted into the organization. Tonight was the induction ceremony.
The ceremony was nice. Last week, a girl from the local chapter contacted me with some questions about T (favorite classes, hobbies, interesting fact). Tonight all of the inductees were introduced by the officers telling about each person. There were a lot of sophomores that were inducted. They each got a candle, which was lit during the ceremony and the oath was recited. It was low-key and kind of charming.
T works hard to make sure his grades are good. I don't have to ride him about doing his homework; he's pretty responsible about getting it done. I check in with him throughout the term to find out how his grades are and encourage him to put in a little extra time if something is giving him trouble. He does well and man, it makes me happy!
Ok. Ok. I'm done bragging for now. :)
