#1225 my happy place

I really like living where I live. I like the city; it is not too big and not too small. I like the mountains and the desert. I appreciate all the seasons, although I like some seasons better than others. I like the variety of things we have to do here. I like the way I live. I like my job. I'm happy and content.

But...

There is a time when you want or need to get away from the usual and the routine. I like to go places I haven't been before and talk to different people and eat different food and spend my days in the sun reading and napping and listening to music. I like to take some days to not worry about whether or not the dishes are done or if there is milk in the fridge or what is happening at work.

I can do all of those things pretty much anywhere, if I'm honest. It takes a bit of willpower to shut it down when you are at home, though.

I feel fortunate that we are able to get away this year so I can go to my "happy place." I have found over the last few years that my happy place has white sand beaches and turquoise-colored water and palm trees. I also like a big pool and plenty of cold beverages.

There are many places in the world that I would like to see and I think there will be opportunities to go to those places. But for now, the place I choose to decompress is a small island off the coast of Cancun. We are soooo looking forward to our trip :)
