#1230 Day 1 of 21 and my new favorite Mexican beverage

Two of my friends at work, Kelsie and Nicole, are doing the "21 Day Fix" program. I decided not to buy the program, since I'm already paying Weight Watchers, but I agreed to commit to getting back on track with WW and getting back to exercising for the 21 days with them.

Have you ever heard the saying that it takes 21 days to build a habit? I'm hoping to reconnect with some good habits in the next three weeks. I even set some little goals for myself:

1. Stick to the plan. Follow the WW guidelines: portion control and exercise.

2. Enough with the Diet Coke already! It's to the point where it doesn't taste good anymore. I 've about convinced myself that I can do without it.

3. Drink more water. Kelsie & Nicole were telling me that we should drink half of our body weight in ounces. I joked that I should just strap one of the Camelbak backpacks on and sip constantly, like this guy:

4. This one isn't really a goal, it would be a result, but at the end of the 21 days, it would be awesome to have dropped a couple pounds a week for a total of six lbs.

Today was Day 1 for all three of us. Today I have followed my eating plan, drank a LOT of water and taken a walk. No Diet Cokes today! One day at a time, right?

I feel like it's a good idea to challenge myself a little. I've been lazy and haven't really taken care of myself the way that I would like to. And it's nice to have some friends who are on a plan, too. Tonight I was going to skip the exercise, but then I thought of Kelsie and Nicole doing their exercise DVD and I made myself get outside for a short walk. It was only about 17 minutes or so, but that's better than zero minutes.

Before I went on vacation, I weighed myself and set a goal that I would maintain (best case) or at most gain two lbs. I came back with one more pound than I left with and I felt happy, especially because I drank a couple of beers a day and usually at least one small pina colada. It was so damn hot that I wasn't too interested in eating, although I did manage to put away a few meals. :)

Oh! I found a new favorite Mexican beer last week. I'd never had it before. I hope that I can find it again because it is very good.

mmmm...Sol!

I saw a shirt/hoodie that I wanted to buy. On the front it had the Sol logo and on the back it said

Save Water
Drink Beer

Probably not appropriate to wear around here, but it was kind of cute.

Ok that's all for tonight. I was wondering how I was going to fit a little vacation tidbit into the 21 Day Fix words. Beer!

Hope you had a fantastic July! Here's to a happy August! (I'm tipping my giant water glass your way!)
