I use the food boards a lot. If I am looking for a particular recipe, I will type a key ingredient or two into the search bar of Pinterest and a bunch of pins of the recipe will pop up. I can then click on the image which takes me to the website where the recipe was found to get more information.
Once you get on Pinterest, there are options to just look at boards that have themes or my favorite, one called "Everything." It really does have a bit of everything on it.
Anyway, I pinned a couple of things recently that have been liked and repinned a bunch of times. I get a message from Pinterest when something I've pinned gets liked or pinned by others. It's kind of fascinating to me. Since I didn't have much else to talk about today, I thought I would show you the two pins that are getting attention:
This is a picture of a sunflower. I thought it was pretty and cheery. I pinned it to my board "Random Things That Make Me Smile". I don't think I even changed the comment which was/is I love #sunflowers. I just saw the pin and repinned it (from someone named Lindsey Young), but the original art was on fotoyorum.org.
Then there is this pin:
I know I changed the comment because I wanted to remember what I especially liked about it, which is the leopard print shirt with the pink cardigan. It looks like it's been repinned 32 times since I pinned it 8 days ago. My phone has been buzzing about the repins. I guess a lot of people are digging leopard and pink! I pinned this from someone named Ursula. The website it came from seems to be questionable though because when I clicked on it, I got a message that I couldn't go any further. It's ok, though. I just like the shirt and sweater.
Since I'm on the subject of Pinterest, I tried a new recipe! My friend Kelsie made the food awhile ago, and it smelled good, so I wanted to try it. It's called Buffalo Chicken Quinoa Salad. The recipe is from a blog called Leaf Parade. You can click on the link to see the blog and get the recipe, if you want.
I like the flavor of buffalo chicken - the spiciness and the bleu cheese. And I've wanted to try quinoa, so I thought this would be a good way to do it. It is good! I like it. Since MT and T aren't big fans of the buffalo chicken flavor, the whole thing is for me. I've had it for lunch this week and really enjoyed it. It was very easy to make, too, which is a plus. I used some leftover deli roast chicken that we'd had for dinner and the quinoa I got at Trader Joe's from the frozen section. It was already cooked and I just had to microwave it for three minutes or something. Have you ever cooked or tried quinoa? It sort of smells like dirt when it's cooked. Thankfully it doesn't taste like dirt. It's tastes kind of nutty. It's interesting.
Quinoa (that's pronounced KEEN-wah, if you didn't know) is one of those "ancient grains" that people are so into these days. I don't know much about it. The first time I ever heard of it was in WW; the leader was gluten-intolerant (I know there's a name for that, but I don't know what it is). Anyway, she used quinoa a lot and it made me interested in it but not enough to spend $6 on a big bag of the stuff that I didn't even know if I would like. Thank goodness for TJ's! They had a box of the stuff in the freezer section for around $3 or $4, so I bought that. Quinoa is a protein, which is cool because protein is good for you and fills you up. Quinoa is also a grain, as I mentioned, so if you are vegetarian, or if you just want to cut down on the amount of meat you eat, it's a good protein option.
Of course I am definitely not a vegetarian and the dish I used the quinoa in has chicken in it, but it made me feel full and gave me a spicy, nutty, cheesy flavor. Yummy!
As usual, I wrote more than I thought I would tonight. This was just going to be quick since I've been watching TV for the past couple of hours and now it's way after my bedtime. Oh well. TV was good - Scandal is back! - and then I watched a new show called How to Get Away with Murder. Entertaining!
Enough already! I've got to go to bed. Talk to you tomorrow :D
