This afternoon T and I went to see Catch Me If You Can - The Musical at Hale Center Theater.
T and I enjoy seeing plays at HCT. For one thing, it's not too far from our house, so it's convenient. It's a fairly small theater and every seat is very good. It's a theater-in-the-round, so it's a cool place to watch a play. The productions are always very good; I don't think I've ever seen a show there that wasn't excellent. Every year HCT does a a production of A Christmas Carol that is beautiful and very well done. I try to see it every other year. I didn't see it last year, so this is the year!
Every year I get their play schedule for the year and T and I try to decide what we would like to see. T picked Catch Me If You Can right away. I joked around with him a little, reminding him that Leo DiCaprio wouldn't be in the play and also that it was a musical. No problem at all with the musical; we both enjoy that type of performance.
I wasn't sure how the musical version of Catch Me If You Can would be, though. You know what? It wasn't too bad. I don't recall any songs that were especially catchy or that are stuck in my head as sometimes happens with musicals, but the story was solidly told and performed. The guy who played Frank was very good with a clear voice and a nice way about him. I also liked the guy who played Carl. The way he delivered his lines was great.
Both T and I enjoyed the play. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours.
