Happy December everyone! Are you ready for Christmas? I will be, of course. I started getting in the Christmas mood yesterday when I put all my holiday music on my iPods. I even bought a new holiday CD. It's called Holiday Wishes by Idina Menzel. I've heard a couple of songs from the CD and they were great.
In fact, I've been in a bit of music buying frenzy lately. I bought a few singles from iTunes:
Uptown Funk - Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars (I love funk and Bruno Mars)
Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers (I know I know I know I know I know I know I know)
The Obvious Child - Paul Simon (those drums! that beat!)
A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins (The Black Keys covered this song when we saw them in concert a couple of weeks ago; such a great tune!)
Stuck in the Middle with You - Stealers Wheel (I like this song a lot even though I always think of Michael Madsen's scene in Reservoir Dogs when I hear it)
I home-shared a bunch of songs from T - mostly rap but other stuff too including one of my current favorite songs, Love Me Harder by Ariana Grande and The Weeknd.
I've also bought a few albums from iTunes. In addition to Idina Menzel, I also got:
Sonic Highways - Foo Fighters
In the Lonely Hour - Sam Smith
1989 - Taylor Swift
I really like the new album from Taylor Swift. I know there are lots of people who don't like her, but there are also lots of people who do like her and I am one of those people.
In November I got the latest from Kenny Chesney, The Big Revival and the latest from Ryan Adams. Lots of new music in my world!
Here's a fun thing: my car has a USB port so I put some music on a flash drive and put it in my car. The car has Microsoft Sync, so I can talk to it. This morning, I put the flash drive in, pushed a button and said, "USB". The car found the flash drive. I said, "Play all" and the music started playing! So cool! Later I experimented and said, "Play artist Outkast" and an Outkast song started playing. So, so freaking cool!! You can also tell it to play a certain track or an album.
I like lots of different kinds of music. I think there's good music to be heard in all genres. I also think there's not-so-good music to be heard in all genres. I used to say that I don't like country, but that's not true. There's some country music I like better than others, but that's true in every genre. I just try to keep an open mind. Sometimes I've surprised myself :)
Talk to you in a couple of days!
