#1572 family movie night - Star Wars: The Force Awakens

On Friday night MT, T and I went to see the new Star Wars movie, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. We have been eagerly anticipating this movie for months and vowed to see it the opening weekend. I'm glad I bought the tickets a week in advance or we wouldn't have seen it on Friday. The theater was packed.

The audience at the 9:20 showing we went to were excited to be there. There was a restlessness in the theater before the movie started but when the previews were finally over and the theater got dark and that iconic music started along with the scrolling storyline, there was cheers and applause and even some tears, I think.

We were all totally into the show and when original Star Wars stuff showed up, like the Millenium Falcon and Han and Chewie, there were gasps and quiet cheers. At a pivotal scene in the movie (no spoilers here!) I gasped and cried and I know I wasn't the only one to do so. And at the end of the film, the audience again broke out in cheers and applause. It's been awhile since I've been to a movie that got that type of reaction from the audience. It was fun!

So, nostalgia aside, how was the movie? This family gave it a hearty thumbs up. We all completely loved it. We walked out of the show on a bit of a Star Wars high. We loved the new characters and the casting. We loved the story. We loved seeing our old favorite characters. We are pretty sure it will be extremely difficult to wait two years for another film. We all want to watch it again. We vowed we will buy the video the moment it is available.

It's been four days since we saw it on Friday and we are still talking about it. I think there is a possibility at least some of us will see it again this weekend. :)
