#1936 feed the beast

The class I took at the gym tonight is called Power Tone. It is a strength training class. We lift weights and do blasts of cardio in between sets. We do the same exercises every time: squats, lunges, push ups, bicep curls, tricep work, etc, but every week the instructor manages to make it completely different from the time before. The instructor's name is Heather is she is this incredibly fit blond lady who is also super nice and fantastically positive and an overall awesome person. I can't say that I sweat harder in her class than in any other class because honestly, I am a sweat-ball. It's not pretty. I am quite gross by the time I leave the gym.

At the end of class tonight, I was quivering. We worked every single body part and all of my muscles and wobbly bits were quivering. I'm surprised I was able to make it out to the car without sort of collapsing. I don't feel sore tonight, but I'm sure there will be some stiffness tomorrow. I'm always surprised at myself when I complete a hard workout like that. I am not a physically strong person. My upper body strength is minimal. My legs are pretty strong but I carry some extra weight (to put it kindly) so I have to work extra hard.

The cool thing is that my knees feel fine after my workouts. I don't have the soreness and the pain that I used to have. When my knees hurt is after I've been sitting for awhile and they stiffen up or when they are cold. It's not really pain; it would be more accurate to say that they are stiff and don't straighten or bend as freely as normal. I usually just rub them to get them warmed back up and get the blood flowing back through them and I feel better.

So after tonight's tough workout, what do I do? I was all shaky and quivery and my stomach was growling and all I could think of was I NEED A TACO! I went over to Del Taco and got exactly what I wanted and I feel slightly guilty about that choice, but supremely satisfied.

Sometimes you just gotta get what you gotta get.
