In all truthfulness, it doesn't take much to make me have vacation envy. I like to hear about other people's vacation plans and to hear all about their adventures when they get back. I like to look at other people's vacation photos, too. What really gets me going, though, is when a person is going somewhere that I have been and especially if it's a place I really love.
My friend Tyson from work and his wife are headed to Europe tomorrow. They will spend the first four days in Barcelona, then get on a cruise ship for a couple of weeks. They like to do the transatlantic crossing, but first they'll stop in Valencia, Cartagena, Gibraltar, Seville (Cadiz), Tenerife, the Canary Islands and end in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It's those first four days in Barcelona that really have me jealous.
Ty says he's been in Barcelona three or four times, but I don't think they have stayed many days there. His wife has everything planned out for them, but I suggested that if they have time they might enjoy a day trip to Montserrat or Sitges or even an afternoon at Tibidabo. I don't know if they'll go to any of those places, but they could. They should! I also recommended that Ty have an ensaimada for breakfast and a plate of jamon iberico. He told me about a time they went to La Boqueria and Lisa (his wife) got some fruits and Ty got himself a plat of jamon. That made me smile.
It's been just over two years since Lizzie, Mom and I went to Barcelona and it's only been probably since the beginning of this year that I haven't thought about that trip every day. Everything about those two weeks was just right. I am thankful for the opportunity to have been in Barcelona with my mom and my sister. It was really wonderfully great. How I wish it was the night before I was going to fly there for four days or two weeks or any amount of time, really.
Instead, I will look at this photo and remember walking to El Putget park with Lizzie on that first afternoon and catching a glimpse of la Sagrada Familia (and the Torre Agbar to the left).

It's great that the trip has stayed with you. So glad you three enjoyed the trip so much.
I was so happy to be in Catalunya with you and Lizzie. We were there at the perfect time. It's very sad and unfortunate the way things are now and I hope the spanish government will have talks with the Catalan government and come to a mutual satisfactory accord.
I hope your friends enjoy Barcelona and that things are peaceful during their stay.
