#1977 three things: snow, Trump and Shakti yoga

1. First snow! There was a little bit of snow on Ford this morning. There was quite a bit more snow out at my office. There were some flurries throughout the day, but it was really cold, so it didn't snow very much. You know, the weather here is wacky. Take yesterday for example. Early in the morning, MT and I went to breakfast around 8AM. The wind was blowing out of the south, it was overcast, and the temperature was in the low 50s. Later in the morning, the skies cleared out and were bright blue and the temp was in the mid 60s. That was around noon. An hour later, the wind shifted to come out of the north and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees. Last night the wind was howling and it started raining, changing to snow at some point.  Regardless, I would consider today the first snow of this season.

2. That man who lives in the White House was in SLC today. Trump was here to shrink a couple of Utah national monuments, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante. I'm not exactly sure what his rationale for deciding that Bears Ears should be 85% smaller than it is or that Grand Staircase Escalante should be about half the size is is except that maybe President Obama designated Bears Ears as a national monument, and President Clinton designated Grand Staircase Escalante as a national monument, so therefore they must be wrong and bad.

This afternoon I was heading back to the office after making a deposit at the bank, and the freeway was blocked for the motorcade, so I ended up waiting for a few minutes. Fortunately I was close to the exit where my office is, so I didn't have to sit there for long. It was still annoying. I remember that a few years ago President Obama came to SLC. He did something in the city, then went to Hill Air Force Base for some sort of presentation. A couple of different routes were blocked off for the motorcade, one of which was I-15 North right by the office. A bunch of us went outside to watch the motorcade pass by, but they ended up taking a different route. One of the engineers was grumbling about Obama, and we talked about it. I remember the guy said, "I respect the office of President, but I do not respect the man in the office." I feel exactly the same way about the person currently in office.

3. A follow-up on the Shakti yoga demo video. Lisa from the gym posted on Facebook that they would be filming another demo for Shakti yoga tonight during the regular yoga class. I did not go to tonight's demo. I figured that the video they did Saturday was bad enough that they decided to try again, and once was enough for me anyway. I might try the class but I'll be in the safety of the darkest corner of the room trying to follow along, not front and center with a guy with an iPhone filming my every move. I had nightmare flashbacks about that stupid video all weekend!
