I'd been wondering how long I will be on an airplane this weekend. I know I'm leaving on Friday night and getting to Cambodia on Sunday morning, but how much actual time on a plane is that? Turns out, it's quite a long time.
It's just over two hours from here to San Francisco. It's about 14 1/2 hours from SF to Guangzhou, China, and then nearly three hours to Siem Reap. I figure we'll be in the air just shy of 20 hours on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. There is a 14 hour time difference between SLC and where we are headed, so Saturday the 9th is kind of a wisp.
We catch a bit of a break on the way back. We'll only be in the sky just over 18 hours on the return flights. That will just be the longest Saturday I've ever had. I guess it makes up for wispy Feb. 9.
My pre-trip, anxiety-induced cold sore is here. I get nervous before a big trip and my nerves manifest themselves on my face. I've been medicating it all day and I can feel it pulsing and getting hateful over there on the left side of my upper lip. It's always in the same place. I'm trying to be cool, but there's a lot going on and yeah, I'm a little nervous.
Everything is going to be fine, I know. I know! MT keeps looking at me and shaking his head as I go through all my lists and practice saying "hello" and "thank you" in Khmer and Thai.
Just three more work-day get-ups!
Deep breaths. It's gonna be great.
