#2218 four days of fun

Yesterday was the official first day of the four day weekend. I decided on Thursday that I would do something fun each of the four days, so I'm here to report on the fun I've had so far.

We started by sleeping in on Thursday because we were up late (for us) watching season two of Stranger Things. We finished the last episode late Wednesday night, and it was worth it! When we finally got up and moving around, we decided to have breakfast at Black Bear Diner. We usually go there on Sunday morning,  so I was a little bit thrown off for the day since it was only Thursday.

After breakfast, MT decided we should go to REI to buy a bike rack for the car so it would be easier to load up the bikes whenever we wanted to go riding. We bought a cool Yakima Ridgeback rack that holds four bikes and tilts away from the car so I can still get in the back. Here is a photo of our bikes loaded on.

Since we had time, we decided to go to Park City. There is a nice bike trail on the east side of the road that starts down at Kimball Junction and goes all the way into town. Here's the thing about it though: it is mostly uphill going toward Park City. I struggled and I didn't think I would make it very far because it is just a long, gradual pull mostly all the way to this barn:

The barn is actually across the road from the bike trail, but it is iconic. I like how the owner's put up the big American flag. Appropriate for Independence Day, right?!

Anyway, as I was huffing and puffing and shifting into low gears up the hill, I was hoping to be able to get to the barn, and I made it, so I was happy! We decided that we felt good enough to keep riding for a little longer. The trail goes along a little stream that was flowing quickly and surrounded by wildflowers. It is very green up there which is nice to see because usually by now everything is dry and brown.

We kept riding until somehow we got off the paved trail. That's when we decided to turn around. The good news here is that we were mostly coasting down the hill which was extra good because big grey storm clouds were gathering.

We made it back to the car, put the bikes up and were in the drive-through at McDonalds across the road from where we parked when the sky opened up and rain poured down. If we had decided to ride a little further, we would have been super wet coming back to the car. Glad we made it just in time.

Yesterday evening we started watching season three of Stranger Things. It's a good one! We have three or four episodes to go. We started kind of late or we probably would have watched the whole season in one sitting.

Today MT had to go to work. My office is closed;  yay for me! I decided to go to Red Butte Garden to record blooms in the Children's Garden and to take a walk through the whole place. It was glorious up there today. It's a really great time to see the place. Well, really, any time is a great time to see the place, but if you like blooming flowers, July is a good time. Here are a couple of photos. Look at the blooming cactus (the red flowers).

And here is a photo of the waterfall since I haven't posted one of this location yet this year. It's one of my favorite parts of the garden.

Now I am at home. I did clean up my kitchen a bit which may not technically be fun, but I was listening to some old R & B and dancing around while I was cleaning. Plus I feel better that everything is clean in that room now.

Tonight MT and I are headed up to Sundance Resort for the first show of the season of the Bluebird  Cafe concert series. It's a songwriter's showcase and mostly they write country music which I am not familiar with. The venue is cool,  the songwriter's stories are  funny and interesting and we always enjoy ourselves. This is our second season of the concerts. I'm looking forward to going up there! It's so pretty.

I'll be back on Sunday to wrap up the weekend. Take care and have fun!
