#2314 travel Tuesday: September trip on my mind

As you can imagine, I absolutely love this quote from the Dalai Lama, and I strive to heed his advice. This year is no exception. I have plans to travel to France!

I haven't been to France before. The country intrigues me. All of that history and all of that baggage, like the French don't like Americans and they are rude and Paris is just a big stinky city. I want to find out for myself. I want to walk through the streets of Paris. I want to see the Eiffel Tower during the day and during the night when the lights twinkle. I want to eat steak and frittes. I want to drink le vin blanc and eat soft cheese on a fresh baguette while I look at the Seine. I want to drink cafe au lait and eat a fresh croissant in the morning at a sidewalk cafe.

And then, after a few days in the City of Lights, I want to travel south to the French Riviera. I'll sit by the seaside. I'll walk through the old streets and sit in the central square. I'll take photos and tap into some creative part of me that I feel inside but can't quite reach just yet. I'll spend time with my sister in a place neither of us are familiar with, listening to people speak in a language we don't know.

Doesn't it all sound grand?
