#2381 three things: t-shirts, pets, and trees

1. Is that too many?  Since I don't get out much, I've been wearing t-shirts every day and I realized I have a damn lot of t-shirts. There are four categories, and therefore, four drawers for my t-shirts. Top drawer: t-shirts that are okay to wear to work. Second drawer: t-shirts that aren't okay to wear to work, but are great to wear out and about. These t-shirts have words and/or graphics on them. (I have been wearing this category of t-shirt while working at home.) Third drawer: t-shirts that are not okay to wear to work or out and about, but are fine for the house. These tend to be slightly oversized or maybe have a hole in the armpit or a stain but I like them. Fourth drawer: t-shirts that I wear to bed. Drawer three t-shirts may be used as nightwear, but drawer four t-shirts are not to be worn during the day. Why? It's just my rule.

Now that I break it all down, I'm kind of embarrased.

2. A furry friend. Well before Osi died, I repeatedly told MT that Osi would be my last pet. I felt strongly that I loved her so much and had gone through such heartache and expense with her that I didn't want to subject myself to all that again. Plus, we like to travel and it can be hard to find good care for a critter, especially one with medical needs.

Now it's been a bit over a month since Osi passed and I find myself missing having a furry friend. I kinda liked having that crazy kitten visit us for a week. Not that I want a cat, but just having a little critter around was nice.

I still haven't gotten rid of Osi's things. I think I can emotionally and mentally now, I just haven't. I know that T would be really happy to have a furry friend around the house. MT is fine without one and would be perfectly happy if we were pet-free for the rest of our days. I don't know. Still pondering this one.

3. Update on our plantings from last year.  For our birthdays last year, MT and I decided to buy ourselves some trees and shrubberies. We got six bridal veil shrubs. Five of them survived the winter and are actually blooming right now. Here are two of them:

I need to trim the grass growing up around the bushes. T doesn't get too close when he mows, and I'm glad about that.

We also bought and planted three trees: an aspen, a honey-locust, and a Norway maple. The aspen didn't make it. It struggled last year, and just wasn't strong enough to make it through the winter. I didn't think the maple survived either. It's trunk is very curvy and the leaves on top didn't drop, they are still clinging but they are all yucky. Today, though, I noticed that the tree is NOT dead. There are new leaves at the bottom!

See what I mean by the curvy trunk and the old brown leaves at the top?

The honey-locust is dong well. The top portion of the tree was never right. We need to cut it off. I will say that we did get a bargain on these Charlie Brown-ish trees from the nursery.

We do not have a great yard. The ground is rocky and there's no shade and the road is noisy and we just don't seem to have the energy to make it beautiful. I always want to, but it's a lot of work and I'm lazy. Of course, I will have time this summer since there is little to no volunteer stuff lined up. Maybe I'll do something in the yard.

Want to see my outside pic from yesterday? It was cold and windy and dreary, so I just went out on my front porch for a few minutes.

Those are my ginormous rose bushes. They have wee buds on them! Soon they will be covered with flowers!

After reading this, you may think I'm sort of pathetic, but there it is. Maybe a June goal will be to get rid of some t-shirts and beautify my yard. I'll follow up with y'all on that in a few weeks :)

Stay safe!

I love doing my gardening and luckily Lizzie likes it too now, we planted a jazmine bush yesterday :)

I know what you mean about furry friends....
