The big news here this week is that the mayor of Salt Lake County petitioned the governor to allow her to mandate mask wearing in the County. The governor agreed, so now it is mandatory to wear a mask in public in Salt Lake County.
I went to Trader Joe's downtown on Thursday and everyone in the store - EVERYONE - was wearing a mask, even little kids. That is certainly not the case at my local grocery store. I was there last Sunday and the people not wearing masks far outnumbered the mask wearers. I tweeted about it. A lot of people liked the tweet, but there was one dude who said something like "you wouldn't even know there was a problem if the news didn't talk about it." I thought the guy was an ignoramus for putting that tidbit out there. There are nearly 9.8 million confirmed cases in the world and nearly half a million dead souls from this virus. Of course the news is going to cover it.
When I am in my own office, I do not wear my mask. When I got out into the public spaces of the office, though, I do wear it. This is a new thing and I like it. Most of the time I am able to keep six feet away from a person, but every once in awhile people come close. I just feel better about having the mask on my face.
Then skin on my hands was dry before all *this* began, and now it doesn't seem like there is enough lotion on the planet to keep my skin moisturized, what with all the hand washing and hand sanitizer I use. I have started rubbing straight coconut oil into my skin. It helps.
MT's parents are visiting us this weekend. They got here today and will stay until Sunday, I think. Linda has a cedar chest that was damaged that she wants MT to fix. I'm glad to see them, but I'm also a little wary. I think all the time about going to see my mom and sister, or about them coming here, then I get a little freaked out. I don't think I am a person who tends to live in fear, but this virus has me shaken. My nephew is getting married in August. I'd like to go to the wedding (it's in Idaho) but I don't know if I will.
Have a good weekend. Be safe. Wear your mask. Wash your hands.

I hope Marty's parents wear masks, they are more susceptible to the virus because of their age. Like me. I'm proud of you for wearing the mask. I wish Marty would too.
