#2408 musical Monday: throwback

One of my very most favorite bands of all time is The Police and Sting has been the object of my musical affection for decades. I did not get to see The Police live in their early '80s heyday, but I have seen them a  couple of times during their reunion tour. I've seen Sting in concert more times than I can count.

This song has been chasing around inside my head for several days. I love the reggae beat. I love the classic refrain "Do I have to tell a story/Of a thousand rainy days/Since we first met/It's a big enough umbrella/But it's always me that ends up/Getting wet." Sting uses those lines in at least two other songs. I love the video, filmed on the Caribbean island of Montserrat.

A quick side note about Montserrat: I haven't been to the island, but on the first cruise we ever took, we were sailing out of St. Kitts and passed by Montserrat. The volcano was erupting and we could see the orange magma as it slid down the mountain. It was too dark to see the island or take photos, but we could definitely see something happening over there. Awesome, but terrifying for the people on the island, I'm sure.

Please enjoy Every Little Thing She Does is Magic from the album Ghost in the Machine, circa  (gulp) 1981.
