My Friday theme is food, and I thought it would be fun to write about something I ate that I really enjoyed from the week. In the future, I'll take a photo to go with the post, but I wasn't thinking ahead to Friday when I ate this week.
Hands down, without a doubt, the best thing I ate this week was French toast and sausage for dinner on Wednesday night. We regularly have eggs and potatoes for dinner, but we rarely have French toast or pancakes or something sweet for dinner. This week, for whatever reason, I had a lot of bread left. I guess we didn't have as many sandwiches as we sometimes do. I told MT that we could have French toast on the weekend and he was agreeable. When I said, "Or maybe for dinner one night with some sausage," his eyes lit up and his exact words were, "I love that idea."
Breakfast for dinner was something from my childhood. I remember plenty of times when Mom or Dad would make pancakes or waffles for dinner. What a treat!
Since T didn't have to work on Wednesday, I decided that Wednesday was the night. I cooked up some Jimmy Dean pork sausage patties to go along with the French toast and we pigged out. There was no conversation. There was no looking at phones or reading or watching TV. The only sound was the scraping of forks on the plates, T gulping down milk, and our lips smacking from the deliciousness. We hadn't had French toast for awhile, and it really hit the spot for all three of us.
Happy weekend, y'all! One week until Christmas!
