A couple of weeks ago in our WW meeting (via Zoom), the topic was to build your goals around your strengths. In order to do that, of course, you need to identify your strengths. Isn’t it funny how when you’re on the spot, you can’t think of a single thing that you’re good at? It doesn’t help when you’re in a bit of a down mental state - it’s almost impossible to think of anything you do well then.
I came up with a few things: sense of humor, mostly positive, pretty well organized. I asked MT what he thought my strengths were. It’s always fun and interesting to hear what other people think. His first response: that I am loyal.
That was a word I hadn’t considered, loyal. But I guess it fits. I’ve been with MT for well over 30 years. I’ve had two full-time employers. I was with the first one for eight years, and today I celebrated 25 years with the second employer. I don’t know if that signifies loyalty or laziness or just an unwillingness to change. Maybe it also signifies contentment and comfort.
25 years at my work is a milestone. It surprised me a little that it felt bittersweet.
