#2618 the goal to write every day (1/30)

Can you believe it? It's November! 2021 has scooted right by in many ways.

I haven't left my house in three days. I am coming out of what I refer to as post-vacation-shutdown. It seems to happen whenever I go on a substantial vacation. I get back, and I catch a cold, and I sleep for at least two solid days. This shutdown took about a week and half to actually happen; sometimes the shutdown comes on much more quickly. I started feeling kind sneezy last Wednesday, but I was doing okay. On Friday night, though, I was done. I took a Benedryl and was in bed before 8:30. I usually talk to Mom on Friday at 8:30, but I had to cancel. I slept through the night, woke up around 6:00 to feed the dogs (they don't understand weekends or human illness), then I went back to sleep until nearly 11:00. I substantially napped through the rest of the day and was in bed by about 9:00 Saturday night. I couldn't even stay up to watch the end of the Utah football game.

It was pretty much the same on Sunday, though the naps were less substantial. I managed to stay up until about 9:45 last night.

Today I felt a lot better when I woke up. The coughing and sneezing was minimal. I was able to work all day - so thankful for work-from-home days! I took a wee nap at lunchtime and powered through the rest of the afternoon. I feel pretty good right now. I am ready for bed, but I will be able to stay up to facetime Mom and Lizzie.

I just don't know what it is about me that causes post-vacation-shutdown. Maybe it's because I am in high gear when I go on vacation. I want to see and do all the things. Even though there was plenty of lounging and relaxing time in Costa Rica, it is exciting to be somewhere new. I've often said I have no chill, that is, until my body says I must chill. I'm thankful I had a whole weekend to sleep and recover. The only bummer is that I planned to change out my summer clothes for my winter clothes and that didn't happen. I'll be pulling random clothes from the storage bin this week to wear to the office. It's definitely not warm here anymore.

Traditionally, I write here every day in November, and it is my intention to do so this year as well. I can't say the quality of content will always be good, but I'll put something out here. I have a few more Costa Rica topics to write about, so that will take some days. I've also got my go-to topics for those days when I don't have a little anecdote to fill the space.

I also realized that I have not kept up on my reading list page, so I'll be updating that throughout the month as well.

So, day 1 is done! I'll see you back here tomorrow.
